Read it aloud, upload it, and get paid when people fall asleep to it. We are looking for instruction manuals, meeting minutes, terms and conditions, stock lists, timetables, and anything else that has never held anybody's attention.
How you are paid
Subscribers pay $10.00 a month. After the card processor takes its cut, 50% of what is left goes into a pot that is divided among contributors every month.
Your share of that pot is your share of the listening time. If people spent 3% of last month's listening on your recordings, you get 3% of the pot. Not per upload, not per download, not per play — per second actually listened to.
It works that way because a play is trivial to manufacture and tells us nothing. Time asleep is the entire product, so time listened is the honest measure. Two safeguards keep it honest: you earn nothing from listening to your own recordings, and one listener can only make one recording earn so much in a day.
Money accumulates in your account. When it passes $25.00 you can request a payout and we send it. The full arithmetic, with a worked example.
What makes something work
- Length. Aim for 45 minutes or more. Short recordings end, and an ending wakes people.
- An even voice. No dramatic pauses, no rising inflection, no jokes. You are not performing.
- Nothing startling. No music, no sudden volume, no laughing at your own material.
- Real dullness. The genuinely boring beats the ironically boring every time. A real appliance manual outperforms a comedian pretending to read one.
