Why does it stop after 60 minutes?

Because nobody asleep presses play. If it ran all night it would still be going when your alarm went off, it would use your data and your battery for hours after you stopped hearing it, and it would be streaming to an empty room. At the end of the hour it fades out and stops. If you are still awake, press it again — there is no limit on how many sessions you use.

Can I make it run all night anyway?

No, and that is on purpose. It is the one thing about this site that is not adjustable by you. If you regularly need more than an hour, press play again — it takes one tap and you are demonstrably awake enough to do it.

Does it keep playing when I lock my phone?

Yes. It carries on with the screen off, and it appears on your lock screen and on headphone controls like anything else you would listen to.

What if I fall asleep and the recording ends?

It rolls straight into another one from the same queue, without a gap and without an announcement, until the hour is up.

Is this actually going to work?

For a lot of people it does, and for some it does not. What we can tell you honestly is which recordings work for other people: every listing shows the share of listeners who reported falling asleep to it, and the library is sorted by that figure rather than by anything we think.

Is it a medical treatment?

No. It is audio. It does not treat insomnia, sleep apnoea, or anything else, and it is not a substitute for seeing a doctor. If you have not slept properly for weeks, please see one.

Are there adverts?

No, and there will not be. An advert is designed to be interesting, which makes it the exact opposite of the product.

How do I cancel?

There is a button on your account page that opens the payment company's own billing screen, where you cancel in one click. You keep listening until the month you have paid for runs out. There is no retention offer and nobody to email.

Can I listen on more than one device?

Yes — anywhere you are signed in. One session runs at a time, so starting on your phone ends a session left running on a tablet.

Can I download recordings?

No. Playback is streamed and checked against your subscription each time, which is also what lets us pay contributors accurately for time actually listened to.

Who reads these?

Contributors — anybody who has something dull and is willing to read it aloud. Every recording is listened to by a person before it goes into the library.

Can I contribute?

Yes, and you are paid a share of subscription revenue based on how long people spend listening to your recordings. The full arithmetic is published, with the real numbers.

What does it cost?

$10.00 a month. That is the only price there is.
